Guide to the CS2 pet chicken

The CS2 pet chicken arrived in the Rush Hour update on . Prime accounts get one Chicken Egg from the Weekly Care Package, one pet per account. Answers below are one line each, with the game's own text quoted where it has some.

When does my egg hatch?

The CS2 chicken egg hatches about a week after it drops; the HatchBook cover prints the date.

Your Egg is not ready to hatch yet. It will hatch in a week or so from when you got it. (in-game text)

Where is my egg?

The pet lives in the nest beside your agent on the CS2 main menu. It is not in the Steam inventory.

How does feeding work?

Feed comes in the Weekly Care Package, which Prime accounts earn by ranking up once a week; the pet is fed from its nest on the main menu. The Coop counts rations as seven days from a feed until owners' reports pin the real length.

What if I miss a week?

Skip a week's feed and the pet leaves for good. Its page on The Coop stays as a record.

Your pet has accepted a position elsewhere. The offer included meals. (in-game text)

When is the reset?

The weekly reset is Tuesday 17:00 Pacific time (Wednesday 00:00 UTC in summer, 01:00 UTC in winter).

When can I name it?

A CS2 chicken can be named from the chick stage, up to 20 characters, and renamed once per stage. In game: Inventory → pet → Rename.

Does it come to matches?

From the pullet stage the pet can visit maps with you; finishing a match on a map unlocks it as a photo location.

Older pets can visit here with you. (in-game text)

Which coat will I get?

One of 34 coats across three breeds (Catalana 13, Silkie 9, Polish 12), decided when the chick becomes a pullet. The game publishes no odds; the register shows what owners have registered.

Can I buy, sell or trade one?

No. Eggs, feed and pets are untradable and have no market. Anyone selling one is selling an account.

Why is there no inspect link?

Pets are not in the Steam inventory, so Steam has nothing to link to, and the game has no copy-link button for them.

How long does it live?

The egg's week is official. The three-week chick and pullet stages and the ninety-day hen are a datamine claim, not confirmed; the register shows what owners report.

Can it die?

A CS2 chicken cannot die in a round. The HatchBook's Brave chapter records fire, a Zeus and the bomb.

Your chicken was there when the bomb went off. Bragging rights, permanent. (in-game text)
